It was only about 8 weeks ago that I was on the phone with my friend, and she said, “This is so you!” She was referring to an ad she saw that Yard deSIGNS Western Chicago Suburbs was looking for a new owner. After doing a little research, getting advice from my adult sons, and speaking to Katie at Corporate, I knew this was definitely my calling! The contract was signed, investment money was sent, and the transferring of hundreds of letters, numbers, and graphics into my garage began!

I have no background in owning a business, but I’ve always been told that I have a good eye for designing. People compliment me when they walk in my house, saying I should be an interior designer. I ran the Spirit Wear at my kids’ school for 6 years, and people loved my creative designs for the shirts, decals, etc. So, even though this adventure is completely different than anything I’ve ever done, I’m so much in my element, and I absolutely love it! Putting smiles on people’s faces makes it that much more satisfying.

The sign you see below is one of my favorites so far because this was the first one that wasn’t your typical “Happy Birthday.” I was skeptical about the color choices, as well as it being a smaller yard, but I love the way it turned out and so did the customer!

I am learning new things with every order I receive. My goal is to develop my marketing skills, collaborate with more businesses, and expand my inventory. I know that with the help of the great people within this company, including my fellow deSIGNees, I can reach my goals and continue to thrive with Yard deSIGNS!
