Yard deSIGNS is so excited that we are officially SIX years old! We are celebrating our sixth birthday with grateful hearts! It has been an incredible journey that we are truly grateful for, and we are excited about what the future holds for us. We want to thank all our Amazing customers and Awesome deSIGNEE’s across the nation for supporting us and being part of our family!
How We Got Started – Our Journey to Our Sixth Birthday
In 2017, owner Becky wanted to order a yard sign for her daughter’s graduation. So, she decided to order one online and set it up herself. When she received the sign, she quickly realized that the online sign she purchased was not weather-friendly and would not survive the snow that was in full force at the time. So, this idea was a bust. This led sisters Becky Johnson & Tracey Wiley, Owner and co-founders, to start considering what it would take to start a yard sign company. Yard deSIGNS was born. Becky and Tracy approached their niece, Katie Goth, to help them with marketing for this new venture. Because we all had full-time jobs, we decided it was something we would do part-time. To get started, we did a lot of market research, and we worked fast to find our inventory to get us up and running.
By the 2018 graduation season, we had built a website, set up social media pages, and advertising started. We did 50 signs in May. We quickly realized this part-time garage business was growing faster than we had ever expected. So, we spent the next year nailing down vendors, a graphic designer, and customizing inventory for our business. We also worked on creating an easy, one-of-a-kind online website platform.
After a successful year of sales, we focused on custom inventory to survive any weather conditions and a one-of-a-kind website platform with easy online ordering for the customer. We started getting numerous requests for signs in different cities and states. With this being a rental business, we could not fulfill those out-of-state requests. This is where it gets even more fun! We worked with a great team and decided that offering entrepreneurs the option to become a licensee was the way to go.
Where We Are Today
Fast forward to today, we are now in 12 states, have 25 locations, and are continuing to grow! Yard deSIGNS is the best leap of faith we have ever taken.
